Francis Manufacturing & Defense was built from a passion for firearms, machining, and hands-on craftsmanship. What started as a personal passion has grown into a dedicated shop serving firearm owners, enthusiasts, and customers throughout Summerville, Charleston, and the surrounding Lowcountry.
As the business has grown, so has the range of services we offer. Today, Francis Manufacturing & Defense provides a variety of firearm services, custom machining, and specialized work, giving customers a place to bring their projects to someone who genuinely cares about the finished product.
Meet John
John has always been a creative, hands-on person who loves building, solving problems, and learning how things work. That passion eventually became his full-time career.
John takes craftsmanship seriously and believes the details matter. His goal is simple: do quality work, keep learning, and make sure every customer is happy with the finished product.
And while John takes the work seriously, there's one thing he's a little more serious about:

Meet BJ
BJ and John have been friends for years, originally connecting through their shared love of cars and years of working around the automotive world. By day, BJ works in automotive body repair, where he has built years of hands-on experience and a strong eye for detail.
Gunsmithing is a passion that runs a little deeper. Following in his grandfather’s footsteps, BJ has been learning the craft and expanding his skills over the years alongside John.
After years of friendship, learning, and working on projects together, BJ is excited to bring his experience and passion for craftsmanship to Francis Manufacturing & Defense.
